How To Cut Slate?

Before starting the project, make sure you sort out the required slate of your preference as slate comes in a different size, color thickness, etc.so you should sort the slate accordingly before starting the project it would make a lot easier to initiate the project. It will also help you to identify the badly ruined pieces of slates. 

Using measuring tape, measure the required slates. Measure every slate you shortlisted for the project; make sure you don’t move a single step ahead before taking the required measurement. After taking the dimension of every slate, you are required to mark the line on the top side of the slate, use a carpenter pencil for the job. It depends on which tool you are using for the cutting of slates; you can use a hammer chisel or a slate cutter no matter which tool you use to make sure the surface on which you put you should be even and plain with no irregularities. Having the plain surface is mandatory for right and straight cutting of slates. I recommend using a power tool angle grinder for cutting the slip.

Now turn the grinder on and put on the edge of slate closer to you, and with a firm hand, start moving your hand toward the angle you wanted to cut. Don’t apply much of force. Be calm and keep your hand’s motion linear. keep going with constant force until you reach the other end of the slit

If the slate doesn’t break, don’t panic and try to use a bit of force but not more after that, you try to pass the chisel one more time on the marked straight line.
